EFFECT OF PROPAGATION MEDIA AND DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS OF IBA ON ROOTING OF Bougainvillea glabra C. CUTTINGS

AbstractThis investigation was conducated in the green-house of Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Dohuk Univ., and During 27 February to 4 June 2000. The cuttings of Bougainvillea glabra C. (Viollet cultivar) were treated with of IBA (0, 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm). The treated cuttings were planted in three different medium (Sand, peatmoss, sand + peatmoss). The results of the study showed that planting of cuttings in the sand or the mixture entering the sand in their composition to make a significant increase in rooting percentage and average number of roots as compared with peatmoss alone and otherwise were obtained the highest values for (length and dry weight of roots) and vegetative growth characteristics when planting in peat moss. The use of IBA at (2000 ppm) caused significant increase for vegetative growth specifications and root system as compared to the rest conc. Result of interaction showed that when planting of cutting treatment with IBA (2000 ppm) in the peat moss was to get the best significant values of shoot and root characteristics was got.
