Response of Three Varieties of Broad Bean (Vicia faba L.) to NP Mineral Fertilizer.
Mesopotamia Journal of Agriculture,
To solve the problem of the shortage broad bean crop production in the province of Nineveh, a joint research was carried out between the Horticulture Department of the College of Agriculture, University of Mosul, and the Director of Nineveh Agriculture. The research included a study of the effect of two factors: first three varieties of broad beans (local, Spanish and Italian) and the second factor was three levels of mineral fertilizer NP (0. 300 and 400 kg. ha-1) so that the experiment included nine treatments which conducted in the field using a Split – plot system arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD).repeated each treatment three times. Analysis of variance and Duncan's multiple range test at 0.05 were applied for all research data. Results obtained could be summarized as follows: The Spanish cultivar plants showed significant superiority in the number of pods, seeds, and seed yields compared to the other cultivars. Fertilizer the plants with NP at 300 and 400 kg. ha-1 levels caused a significant increase in all studied traits except for the plant height attribute when using the 300 kg. ha-1 level as compared to control plants. Most effects of interaction between the two studied factors showed similar effects as a single factor for each factor for every mentioned characters.
