AbstractThe stem bark of three trees (15) years old Populus nigra L. (Salixaceae) was extracted with non-polar solvent (Benzene) by the Soxhlet apparatus and its fatty acids methyl ester was analyzed using gas liquid chromatography (GLC). The two components identified were Palmitic acid (saturated) (C16:0) and Linoleic acid (unsaturated) (C18:2) with low concentrations (0.23 %) and (0.03 %) respectively.
